The city of Holliday is
located on U.S. Hwy 277 in the North East corner of Archer County.
Holliday started out as part of a small route on the Texas Santa Fe
Expedition. By 1889 there was enough of a community to form a Methodist
church and by then there was already a stage coach stop. The population
of Holliday was estimated at 25 in 1892.
By 1926 Holliday had
one of the county's three independent school districts and a high
school. The 1926
describes the town as a large oilfield-supply manufacturing and
distribution center with about sixty businesses, including refineries.
Today we are 10 miles from the Wichita Falls metro area that has
abundant shopping and restaurants. We also have a school district that
has been classified as Exemplary for our students and the commitments
to education and sports.
